TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Luzon-wide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) concluded its 21st and final edition on Wednesday, March 19, paving the way for the launch of the first National Higher Education Press Conference (NHEPC) next year.
Maria Evelyn D. Corpuz, president of the Association of Luzonwide Tertiary Press Advisers, announced the transition during the closing program of the three-day event at NGN Gran Hotel.
“Lahat kayo ay magiging part ng history. Ito na po ang huling Luzon-wide press conference. Next year will be our first national press conference,” Corpuz said.
She also announced that Region 1, with Vigan City as host, will stage the inaugural NHEPC in 2027.
This year’s conference drew 1,189 delegates from 167 tertiary campus publications, who competed in various individual and group categories from March 17 to 19.
Region 1 ranked fourth among the top-performing regions.
The University Scribe thanked its delegates who competed in the event: Melyra D. Esguerra in Feature and Development Communication Writing, Neil Vincent V. Corpuz in Sports Writing, and Ashley R. Donceras in Poetry Writing. It also acknowledged Norma Jesusa B. Bertuso and Jaycee T. Marzan, who attended as observers.
Further, the publication extends its sincere gratitude to the University Administration—especially Acting University President Dr. Amihan April C. Mella-Alcazar, Chief Operating Officer Atty. Dar A. Diga, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio, Vice President for Academic Affairs Atty. Michael Henry S. Sevilleja, and Director of the Center for Student Leadership and Development Dr. Nhorly U. Domenden—for their continued support of student journalists.
